GitHub Sponsors Profile

Hi, thank you for checking out my sponsorship page! I'm Yosh, an independent open-source engineer based in Berlin. I'm currently involved with the Rust Async Ecosystem WG, and trying to move the state of async networking in Rust forward.
What I've Worked On

In the past I built choo, a friendly frontend framework and ecosystem of small modules.
I've also worked on p2p protocols (the bittorrent kind) as part of the dat project. More recently I've worked on datrs, a Rust port of the Dat protocol.
I used to be part of the Node.js streams working group, working on the async streams ecosystem.
I've helped build out the browserify ecosystem.
And I'm involved with 400+ npm modules, and 100+ Rust crates that do all sorts of things. If you're using Node.js or Rust, there's a good chance you might be relying on my work in some way.

What I'm Working On

I've recently released surf, a friendly HTTP client that works both natively and in the browser. It's fully streaming, and has modular backends. However it's not done yet because it needs a server counterpart.
Which brings me to tide, a friendly HTTP server that combines streams with an ergonomic interface and modular backend to make a flexible framework that's also nice to use!
Underpinning all of this work is async-std, an asynchronous version of Rust's standard library on which the rest of the ecosystem can be built.
I'm also involved with Rust leadership! This means lots of meetings in the evenings, but it's worth it! My current focus is Async Rust, but I'm involved in other parts of the language as well.

These are the biggest things I'm currently working on, but I always have a collection of smaller projects on deck for when I can't work on the larger ones. Oh and probably one or two larger, unannounced things in the work also.
What Sponsorship Does
I currently work as a freelancer, with a focus on open source. Sponsorship would mean a bit more financial security for when I'm between contracts.
