The Open Dictionary is on a mission to create universal, accessible dictionaries for everyone everywhere in the world. Lexical data as it exists today is either hard to use programmatically, supported by archaic technology, or uses proprietary file formats (sometimes all three!). We built ODict with the vision of breaking down these barriers and bringing dictionaries into the 21st century, with a keen focus on empowering developers to build first-class language applications.
We are currently a group of developers building ODict part-time for free. By sponsoring us, you will allow us to pour even more of ourselves into this work and build even more cool stuff. Currently we are eyeing:
A full Wiktionary replacement, backed by the ODict format
An open-source, offline dictionary application for ODict
Porting even larger-scale existing dictionaries such as Wiktionary and OmegaWiki to the ODict format
