Hi👋
I'm Thomas, an alleged philosophy MSc student spending more time here than on JSTOR. I make (org-roam-ui)[https://github.com/org-roam/org-roam-ui], a pretty frontend for visualizing notes taken in my favorite archaic text-editor Emacs. If you give me money I can spend more time (or, if we're being honest, the same amount of time, but less guiltily) on making this the best dang Emacs-compatibly-Zettelkasten-visualization software there is, and ideally make it branch out into a somewhat of a functioning ecosystem with standalone web/desktop/mobile apps for those trying times when you are away from Emacs. Also I could fasttrack some feature requests if you're into that.
I also help create the Journal of Trial and Error, a journal which aims to normalize failure and promote transparency and openness in science. Isn't it weird that in industries where the main goal is to make people click ads SO many resources are shared and even giant corporations like Facebook make massive contributions to open source software, while in science, where you'd think the main goal should be to make knowledge as easily accessible as possible, so few scientists actually share their data and the biggest players' (Elsevier, Nature-Springer) main contribution to the world is gatekeeping academic knowledge?
Yeah me too.
If you give me money I won't have to live in serfdom to Elsevier et al. in order to pay rent, which would be great!
