I'm an open-source developer, a praxeologist, and someone who likes to speak and write about problems related to the two most complex tools humans have ever invented: software and the State. Surprisingly, there are similarities: broken ownership, frozen evolution, and enormous complexity.
Sir Tim Berners-Lee nicely summarized the problem with software as it is made nowadays in his Solid Web decentralization project. Ink&Switch rearticulated the same problem in their famous Local-first software essay. Long story short: Software is too complex and doesn't belong to the users. The way to fix that is to (literally) move software closer to the users. The software we use every day should run on our devices. A cloud is nice, but depending on some not. Clouds must be interchangeable.
The problem with the State is almost the same: complexity and broken ownership. I described the problem and solution in the Deconstruction of the State manifesto: ds.show/cz/manifest (TODO: English version).
I'm mainly focused on Evolu, a local-first platform designed for privacy, ease of use, and no vendor lock-in. I aim to provide the best "local-first" platform for web developers.
