I make tools for data analysis. Currently, I maintain the FDA's recommended tool for submitting XPT files (demonstrating your clinical research results) if you're a Python user. How did this happen? I wanted to read some data the CDC provides and discovered there wasn't a good way for a Python user, without buying a $X,000 SAS license. Turns out other branches of the government rely on that file format as well.
