Hi, I'm Saul, and like many of my friends on here, I love to work on open-source software. I contribute to projects that I use, and manage my own project for reading CS:GO demo files.
I started work on demofile in 2015 as part of my undergrad dissertation. I chose to analyse CS:GO gameplay as I'd enjoyed many of my teenage years working with the Source Engine. After pouring many, many hours into demofile, I eventually ended up with a library that I knew would be useful to others - so I open-sourced it! As CS:GO's popularity exploded, especially in eSports, interest in demofile has grown. Teams are interested in quantitatively analysing their own gameplay, and that of their opponents. Startups are forming which will do this for you - some of which are backed by my library.
I think GitHub Sponsors is a great way to give back to those who give up their free time to help others. Particularly for companies that depend on demofile for their success, sponsorship is a great way to show your appreciation. Even if you only use it personal use, any sponsorship would go a long way to keeping me motivated.
Sponsoring me doesn't get you anything - there's no more I can give than what I already give for the project. If you like my work and would like to say thank you, please consider sending a donation. Thank you.
