Hi, I’m a Ron, from Vancouver, BC, 🇨🇦.
I’m a certified lifeguard, swim, ski and snowboard instructor. I have an MBA. I once founded an internet startup. Building things with code is sort of a hobby that has gone too far….
Through the years I've done some things and built some stuff. Most of my recent software work has been in JavaScript, specifically focusing on libraries/packages.
I authored BlockLike.js, an educational JavaScript library designed to bridge the gap between block-based and text-based programming. Put simply, that lib, allows kids (and other learners) to move on from Scratch. BlockLike is open sourced and MIT licensed. There is public facing website at BlockLike.org with FAQs, docs and lots of examples. The code is, you guessed right, is on GitHub.
I've also authored Impossible.js, an Object Oriented JavaScript library for building cross-platform terminal apps (and games). It lets you compose complex user interfaces from small and isolated components, thus greatly simplifying the creation of terminal apps. Impossible is closed source and not licensed. A public intro to the project is available.
On behalf of SolarWinds I’ve done significant work on their Node APM agent. The code is open source and spans four repos: AppOptics Agent AppOptics Native Bindings and SolarWinds Agent SolarWinds Native Bindings
And that’s all for now.
Cheers,
Ron
