Hi, my name is Ryangguk Kim. I am the CEO of a bioinformatics startup, Oak Bioinformatics, LLC. Formerly, I worked as a bioinformatics consultant. My background is PhD in bioinformatics, computational structural biology, and biotechnology.
My main project is OakVar, a genomic variant analysis platform. It started as a fork of OpenCRAVAT, of which I was the lead architect, and then has been being further developed with big ambitions. I am developing OakVar into a genomic variant interpretation platform with focus on ease and power. Ease so that anyone including the general public without special knowledge on genetics can use it and power so that it can be the one-stop solution for all variant analysis needs.
A sister project to OakVar is Roakvar, an R wrapper of OakVar. R is a powerful language, but there has been no comprehensive variant analysis system in R. Roakvar through OakVar will bring genomic variant analysis into the domain of R.
OakVar and Roakvar do not have any federal funding, but there are costs for their development and maintenance, such as web servers and time and effort.
