GitHub Sponsors Profile
Hi, I'm Ruth, and I've been involved with Open Source for over 20 years!
What I do (in the tech world)
Mautic
Currently I'm fortunate to be supported by the Mautic Project to work as Project Lead, leading the world's first open source marketing automation platform. We're putting the most powerful, free marketing automation software into the hands of people who are changing the world. Check it out on GitHub here.
Women of Open Source
I co-founded the Women of Open Source community, which creates a safe space for both cis and trans women and non-binary and gender-nonconforming people who are comfortable in a space that centres women, and who are interested in, or working in, Open Source. The goal is to both encourage new people to get into Open Source, but also provide a space for mutual support and encouragement for maintainers and other experienced open source contributors.
Other projects
I also contribute to the Decidim project, mainly through Documentation, as we use Decidim to power the Mautic Community Portal, and any other open source project I come across where I notice a way that I can help.
Speaking
I love talking about all things Open Source, whether it's project-specific or in general, and have been fortunate to have spoken at many events around the world over the years.
What I do (outside the tech world)
Charity trustee
I'm a trustee for the wonderful Breathworks charity, who are changing the lives of people like me who live with pain and illness, through secular mindfulness and compassion training.
EDS Warrior
I live with a long term, genetic condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I've lived through a major health crash and come out the other side thanks to pacing, using a wheelchair for around 4 years, and working on strength and conditioning training. Read a bit more on my website here. I now champion ways to become physically active with EDS and encourage others through sharing my own training for challenges like the Endure24 ultramarathon!
Buddhist training for ordination
I'm a practicing Buddhist within the Triratna tradition and I'm in the process of training for ordination.
How your sponsorship helps
As the saying goes, every little helps! Whether it's a few quid to grab a coffee while I work, or a more substantial donation, it all helps me to continue focusing on supporting open source projects as my primary focus, and I greatly appreciate each and every donation.
If there's something specific you'd like me to help with please reach out to me first via my website.
