Years ago I began to check the code of applications, when I experienced problems with them and noticed, that I was able to write changes and fix bugs. Programming was part of my education quite a long time ago and always a passion of mine, but my professional jobs went away from that direction. Contributing to open source projects was the opportunity for me to come back to this passion and enjoy it.
