I was an OpenBSD developer between 2008 and 2020, working mostly on the OpenSMTPD project, but since I left I work mostly on smaller projects that I publish on Github.
I've switched from full-time job to part-time job, at the cost of 1/4 of my wage, to spend more time doing open-source work and writing, sometimes taking freelance gigs when too short on money.
If I had enough sponsors to work open-source full time, it would be wonderful, but if it could only cover the wage loss, I'd be plenty happy :-)
