GitHub Sponsors Profile

Hi, I'm MD! You might recognise me from the Minecraft community for a few open source projects I work on, most notably as the maintainer of the EssentialsX plugin.
I joined a small community server in 2015, and as the server technician this involved writing and updating a few tools and plugins to suit our needs. Over the years, I've released many of these as open source projects, as well as contributing fixes to upstream projects to allow other servers to take advantage of them.
In 2016, I started contributing to the EssentialsX project; initially, this involved providing support, fixing bugs and adding new features. Then, at the end of 2017, EssentialsX launched the MOSS community on Discord to bring together members of different projects in the Minecraft open source world, and I took on a greater role in assisting EssentialsX users with setting up and using EssentialsX.
Following the release of Minecraft 1.13 in 2018, I took on the role of updating the EssentialsX codebase to support modern versions of Minecraft. This was a major undertaking; several legacy parts of the plugin that had been inherited from previous maintainers now required major overhauls to work with the new APIs and mechanics introduced in 1.13. Over the course of a few months, I spent countless hours on the 1.13 update, not only writing code but also writing new documentation and developing a new website in my spare time between schoolwork, as well as reviewing community contributions.
Today, EssentialsX reaches over tens of thousands of Minecraft players worldwide on a daily basis, running on over 60,000 server instances. MOSS thrives with over 8000 members, and continues to provide a central support community for many open source projects, as well as bringing exposure to new and upcoming projects. (The small community server I run is still around too!)
While I'm glad that I've been able to support the Minecraft open source community for free over the past year, none of this would have been possible without spending a lot of my personal time (and occasionally money) on these projects. If EssentialsX, MOSS or any other projects I've worked on have been any use to you, then I'd appreciate any spare change you'd like to contribute. Of course, if you'd rather donate to EssentialsX directly, you can do so over at Patreon or Ko-fi. (If you'd like to support N3FS, you can find out more about donating to N3FS here.)
Thanks for reading, and see you around 👋
