Hi, I am 🧑🔬 Matt Davis of 🦞 Maine originally from Illinois! I have been Developing Python 🐍 and Django applications since 2007, from my time finishing B.S. in 💽 Computer Engineering at University of Illinois 🏫 class of '08, cum laude 🪙
My core focus outside of work is I am now a project maintainer for Pipenv. Some of my accomplishments in the last 6 months on the project have been:
🕹️ A reduction of issue count from ~700 to ~400 open issues being tracked, triaged and support offered.
🤖 New versions of pip-shims and requirementslib to support vendoring in latest major version of pip, 22.0.4 which included several bug fixes.
🛡️ Assessed security issue report on package confusion attacks and modified pipenv to require index restricted packages and provide a logical framework for determining indexes that can be extended upon in the future.
💾 Better organized the utility code into a utils module (from a massive utils.py); added CI enforced code linting and ability to generate coverage reports.
🚀 Quick turn around and follow-up releases when new bugs were introduced while patching up some other issue reports.
As is the case with most all Engineers and Software Developers, I have many expenses: ⚙️development tools, the 💻 laptop I bought specifically for working on these types of projects, educational resources, etc. Your contributions will go into the general fund to help maintain my software licenses such as PyCharm, and of course 🍕 pizza and 🍖BBQ on those long sessions of working to improve Pipenv and other open source projects!
