MacPorts is a ports system: software for building, installing and managing other software in a controlled manner. It primarily targets macOS and offers tens of thousands of ports. Pre-built binary archives are also built and hosted for many of the ports.
Currently MacPorts is all-volunteer. There are expenses involved in hosting our web sites, build machines, and databases, and in obtaining code signing keys from Apple that will satisfy the Gatekeeper feature on macOS. These are the things that we initially hope your sponsorship can help out with.
The hardware we use to build binaries is also near capacity, and it would be great to be able to get some more as new macOS versions continue to be released annually.
