I love creating stuff. Tackling problems and finding solutions always motivates me, but nothing compares to sharing those with the world and collaborating with others, integrating them, and providing something better on each release.
For more than 8 years I built, preached, patched, and maintained a Ruby distribution for Windows called RubyInstaller. Between 2007 and 2015, with 52 releases and more than 4 million downloads gave me a perspective on the impact of your contributions and the importance of collaboration.
During that time I built things like rake-compiler that help others pre-package Ruby binary gems for different platforms, improving their experience with Ruby.
All this also gave me a perspective on simplification and pragmatism.
Nowadays, I build simpler open-source tools for others like me, mostly using Ruby or Crystal, looking to improve my own development experience and for others!
You can think of these tools as glue, necessary to combine other things and make them work together. UNIX-ism approach to software libraries and tools 😊
Some of the things I've released and maintain 📦

Radix - Fast radix tree lookup (used by others for HTTP request routing)
hydrofoil-crystal - Minimal and tuned Crystal setup for static binary generation and development
gem-compiler - package Ruby gems as native binaries
drift - Standalone SQL-driven schema migration tool and library for Crystal

Not to mention contributions to other open-source projects than my own 😉

Compile, package and distribute Linux/macOS binaries of your Crystal applications, across platforms (CLI, tutorials and examples)
