Long Shot Labs is a brand of Dairy State Designs, LLC. Dairy State Designs was founded in 2011 by Eric Dobbertin and Chris Jarosh. From the beginning, we focused on building great apps and websites using modern stacks, and high quality graphic design. Over time, we were able to solve various problems for clients in a way that we felt others would also benefit from, so we began packaging and making public a lot of our code solutions.
For a period of time, Eric was active in the Meteor community, where he authored and published a number of open source packages in the aldeed namespace. Some of these have since been gifted to the Meteor Community group to maintain, and others are still maintained by Long Shot Labs.
Chris went on to found the Rumblepop Design Company for his design work, and Eric continues to work with other team members to produce Node.js and native mobile apps and SaaS products, with a commitment to open source as much of it as possible. To keep everything as clear as possible, we now use the brand Long Shot Labs for our open source mission and non-client projects, but you can still hire Dairy State Designs for your app building and architecture consulting needs. (We prefer to work with clients who share our commitment to open source, though.)
One of the joys and burdens of making so much of our code public is keeping up with maintenance.
