GitHub Sponsors Profile
Hello, I'm Tyler Martin, I currently live in Salt Lake City, UT, and I have been programming professionally for 25+ years. While primarily a UI and graphics programmer, I also have formal training as an artist with a great interest in digital art, both as a hobby and secondary profession. This has guided me to a career in marketing and games, making websites, apps, and installations, always focusing on a high degree of visual polish.
My main interest in the open-source community has been taking some of the great open-source libraries that make low-level graphics programming available to everyone, and gluing them together in a light-weight, low-level engine, perfectly suited for small games or graphically-intense apps/websites/installations. I especially have been interested in cross-platform libraries, to help maximize the reach of those sorts of projects.
There is plenty of other work being done in this and similar areas, and two things have kept me driven to work on it myself:
Learning the 3D-graphics pipeline for myself, at least at some level, from start to finish, so that I can fully understand my engine, and also get a good head-start on learning how larger engines work under the hood in order to serve me as a technical artist
Focusing on "bare-minimum" style libraries that could potentially run on older devices, rather than heavy, complete-solution frameworks and engines.
These goals have potential to benefit the sorts of clients I have spent most of my career helping. Often a client might not be interested in licensing a large engine. It has also frequently been impractical to use a large engine, just for one corner of a project that is being driven by much different requirements.
Your sponsorship would mean a great deal to me, as it would help me pay my bills while I improve the engine itself and my skills to help future clients, employers, and—because it's open source—potentially anyone with a GitHub account.
Thank you!
