As a developer, I'm maintaining quite a bunch of Magento extensions (and some Shopware extensions). Most of them are free and are maintained on a voluntary basis. And because a lot of these extensions are used in shops that are business-critical, it is not just fluffy code that needs to be created: I'm focusing upon quality code (unit tests, integration tests, PHPCS, PHPStan) which is time consuming.
