I'm Ivan from South Tyrol in the north of Italy. I'm working as CTO and Tech Lead @ SiMedia.com during the week, playing around with new tech during the evenings and spending most of the weekends outside in the mountains or on the bike.
A few months ago, when we as a company started started using more and more open source software instead of closed source software, an additional concern came up for us as a company. We didn't want to just use open source without giving anything back. That's why we started donating to open source projects which we frequently use in our products. Additionally, when we build components for our products, we make them open source so that not only we can benefit from them.
A big part of the time spent on building the packages is used from my free time and some time is being donated from SiMedia in order to keep the components updated and give something back to the community. A sponsorship helps me to even better sustain the packages, keeping them updated, fix bugs and more frequently add new features.
