Hi!

About me: My name is Isin. I am from Izmir, Turkey. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Copenhagen. I have a bachelor's degree in Biology. During my undergrad, I discovered a fascination for computer science and programming, and became a free software enthusiast. I had to learn everything about programming and computer science by myself using free online resources and reading source codes. Without these free resources and open source software, I would not be able to do anything I do right now. Everything I know, I owe to this grand pool of knowledge called internet and this subpool called GitHub. I very much appreciate it and I strive for contributing to it. Therefore, I value open science, open source and free software deeply.

My personal work: I love writing tools for various purposes, and I share them as open source software on GitHub. I also share cheatsheets and resources. My latest work is an experimental R package, gptchatteR, for interacting with OpenAI's bots, which makes it possible to make the AI chatbot plot stuff for you, right from R console or RStudio!

My academic work:
I am a Ph.D. fellow at the University of Copenhagen, supervised by Thorfinn Sand Korneliussen and Rasmus Nielsen. I am interested in bioinformatics, population genetics and statistical genomics. More specifically, my research interest revolves around developing novel methods and statistical frameworks aiming to disentangle evolutionary histories of populations, and implementing these methods into fast and efficient software.
