My name is Mohammad but I choose to be "Veyron Pax" Obviously it’s a made-up name, but the reason for that is because I am an artist, a multidisciplinary artist refugee in the United States as of 2014.
In Latino "Pax” means peace, and the word, “Veyron” doesn’t really have any meaning except in Farsi language from my old country, Iran, it means destroyed, void, empty!
I escaped Iran Because of all the discrimination and violence against my identity as a Kurdish man, My sexual orientation as a gay man, And also to be an artist!
I studied computer science and film. Both fields were to secure myself and my art because of a very sad experience in my life, having all of my paintings ripped off and burned by one of my older brothers!!! However, it did encourage me to learn more about computers and digital tools to keep my artistic soul alive.
I got arrested, jailed, integrated, and tortured very severely for a few months, just accused of being gay otherwise the punishment is death literally.
I was lucky enough to get out of that country and so grateful to have a free life here in the United States. I started Human rights activism right when I sought asylum in Turkey. There are many cities, and so many people like me in such countries, that they are not aware of the possibilities, and the ways to communicate outside the world and see freedom, and to find Waze to pursue their dreams, become free, and have basic human rights. The main key is communication, especially through the Internet and media.
The projects I'm working on, are all upon building, more communication platforms, such as websites, apps, art, and films.
I made a short perforative documentary called "Why We Ran From Iran" in a way to awareness and enlighten people who are close-minded about such minorities.
