About the Creator
Phillip David Stearns explores art at the intersection of textile design and creative coding. In 2012, he founded GlitchTextiles, a textile design studio devoted to the continued exploration of computational textile design.
GlitchTextiles GlitchTools
For his work with GlitchTextiles, Phillip develops custom software tools that apply topics ranging from glitch art, cellular automata, pixel sorting, data visualization, cybersecurity and more to textile deign. GlitchTools is a public collection of the tools Phillip develops for making GlitchTextiles designs.
Tools Currently in Development include:
CCA Playground - a Cyclical Cellular Automata explorer
Wolfram Extended - A 1D Cellular Automata generator that extends Wolfram's Elementary 1D Cellular Automata
VectorDrift - Datamoshing simulation tool
Langston Extended - Generalized implementation of Langston's Ant 2D Cellular Automata
DataViz - Flexible tool for rendering arbitrary binary data into images.
Conway Extended - A 2D cellular automata generator that generalizes and extends Conway’s Game of life to include probability.
CellSort - A pixel sorting application based on the idea of 2D cellular automata.
Diffusion - A tool for exploring custom error-diffusion dithering techniques.
CrossSort - A powerful operation-based pixel sorting tool.
LangstonSort - A "pixel sorting" tool based on Langston's Ant 2D Cellular Automata
Your Support
GlitchTextiles kindly asks for your support to continue to develop new, exciting tools and to make them available to the public right here on GitHub and beyond. We believe this suite of tools will provide the art and design community with an indispensable resource for exploring their digital world in creative and inspiring ways.
