Essential tools for web-developers

Hi! 👋🏼
My name is Sergey Chikuyonok, a front-end developer who lives in a beautiful Saint-Petersburg, Russia. And I love to build tools for other front-end developers like me.
Many years ago I’ve started a hobby project to help myself with working on HTML and CSS. Quickly enough, this project became so popular and even essential for many web-developers around the globe. Of course, I’m talking about Emmet 🤩!
Development and support of project of such scale is hard. It requires to maintain different plugins for multiple editors with different API, sometimes written in different programming languages. Match expectations and coding style of millions of users. Write and maintain docs with interactive examples. Everything was made by a single person in spare time with a very little help from community 😔. A few years back, I was pretty exhausted by Emmet project: it required too much effort to maintain it with nearly zero benefit. I know I’m not alone here.
But thanks to GitHub Sponsors, I decided to give it another shot 🥳. I truly believe that building the best open-source tools could be sustainable.
Today, I’m working on a new Emmet implementation (codename “Emmet 2”). It’s a much faster and much smaller module, written from scratch and designed for a completely new Developer Experience. It displays real-time abbreviation preview, plays nice with native editor snippets and provides improved JSX support. You can see it in action at CodePen or try new (still in beta) Sublime Text plugin or upcoming Nova editor by Panic.
To make Emmet 2 happen, I need your help. There’s still too much work to do: create new plugins for most popular editors, create a new web-site with easy-to-use online config, update docs, support CSS-in-JS and many, many more. Together, we can build truly impressive tools that will help you to make things done faster!
