While I've worked primarily as a web developer over the past decade, I also enjoy tinkering with my homelab, automating infrastructure, and learning about security.
Early in my career, I developed WordPress websites for businesses. I quickly realized I needed to run my own site to gain more experience and share what I learned with those who might need it. At www.closingtags.com, I publish monthly technical posts outlining problems I come across and the solutions discovered.
Lately, I've been wanting to take better care of my health by tracking how much water, calories, and sodium I take in throughout the day. I wasn't satisfied with the bloated health tracking apps that were already out there so I set out to build something lean 💪; I call it helth app. Another thing I hated about all of the big name health apps is how much data they take from their users. That's why all the data for helth app is located on the device! Once the app is loaded, there's no need for any of the data to leave the device; that is unless you want to use the handy barcode scanner to enter your nutrients magically ✨. Of course, that data needs to be retrieved from sources online. It's also a PWA so it can be easily installed directly mobile devices. To build helth app, I've used SvelteKit, Chart.js, zxing-js, Vite PWA, and Dexie.
