I am currently involved with Active911_python. This project allows emergency services to connect to CAD information in custom applications integrated with Active 911 via python.
People do not realize the funding difficulties for some emergency services, which leads to longer response times and a lower level of care for the persons involved in a situation. So if by providing python bindings to interact with emergency software can help lead to better quality care and shorter response times then it was all worth it.
