I work as a freelancer and like to use free OpenSource software. There are very helpful programs and tools that make my life easier. Therefore I would like to give something back and get involved in OpenSource projects.
As a Python lecturer I am working together with students on a project that can automatically evaluate students' homework. This should simplify the work of tutors considerably, so that they can concentrate on holding their tutorials.
Furthermore, I can participate in a project that aims to improve segmentation of old Chinese newspapers using neural networks in order to advance digitization and reduce manual work.
It is also planned to develop a platform for deaf and dumb people to learn sign language without having to travel long distances to sign language schools.
