Dynamic interactive video-calls to escape corporate communication culture
The idea emerged during the first SARS-CoV-2 shutdown when some of us started a virtual bar. We found informal group conversations restricting and hierarchical, as the majority of tools are created to enable (corporate) meeting culture. Where were the dynamics of a self-organizing crowd hanging out at one big table together? The big table, where so many jokes, comforting talks, discussions, and encounters happen. Where utopias and ideas would emerge?
It’s our goal to find interaction patterns that enable informal, unmoderated video calls. And thanks to the funding of the Prototype Fund from September 2020 to February 2021, we could prove that interactions based on spatialized sound are a very promising way to go.
The application builds upon the jitsi API and it is our goal to enable everyone who is able to host jitsi to be able to host Chatmosphere as a frontend as well.
What will happen with your support?
Firstly we will cover the costs for hosting our open Chatmosphere Demo
Then we would love to give sth back to jitsi, once we find out how.
If some money is left we invite those of our team who created all additional documentation to go and have a beer.
If more money would come in, we focus on shipping features we already identified during user tests
