Who are you, and where are you from?
Hi! My name is Carlos Contreras, I'm a Student and Mid-Time Developer. I'm from Culiacán, Sinaloa, México.
I always believed that school isn't enough to be a true professional, that's why I founded a community to help other students develop their skills through collective learning and various events. The name of the community is DevSpace.
What are you working on?
I'm actually freelancing, open to job offers, and dedicating time to the community DevSpace. We organize different events and workshops made by students for the public interested in learning something new.
Some events that we have done are Hacktoberfest 2019, courses, boot camps, etc. Something really big was making our very first Hackathon at our university, called Hacking Minds, where more than 100 people from different universities attended.
I have plans to work hard in the community to help more people develop their skills, both soft and hard skills, and make a positive impact on what I have on hand.
[ ] Why is their sponsorship important? How will you use the funds?
I always knew that leading a community wasn't going to be easy. It requires time, patience, and of course we were not going to make money from this, on the contrary, we were going to spend from ours.
In the beginning, we paid domain, also we had rough times searching sponsors for the hackathon. I think your help could be very helpful because nothing is free and I'm just a student.
People always helped, for example, with classrooms, broadcasting and merchandising like stickers, cheat sheets, etc. People really love merchandising.
Any kind of support would be a really big push to keep working on things that can make what surrounds us a little more awesome!
