i'm ezra buchla, a musician and audio software developer with long experience in the music and audio technology worlds.
i've been commited to open source products and projects, notably as a lead software architect and engineer with monome.
although i've occasionally received nominal compensation for OS work, by and large it has represented hundreds or thousands of hours of volunteer labor. (including time spent on support questions and so on.) i must support myself and my family with full-time proprietary work.
i have a number of ideas and plans for what i believe are very strong software product designs that make more sense as open-source noncommercial projects. sponsorship would be a big step, both motivationally and logistically, towards realizing these new things, as well as offering more direct support for some of my projects that are already in heavy public use.
some examples include:

improving and extending my softcut library for realtime, varispeed audio sample manipulation.
developing a frequency-domain (phase vocoder) analogue to softcut.
refining my dowser audio analysis library, and embedding it in more direct creative applications (e.g. for analysis-based additive synthesis.)
building out a suite of novel and customizable audio plugins for DAWs
building out a new realtime scriptable audio processing environment aimed at bare-metal platforms
putting in more time on extending and improving the monome norns ecosystem.
