Hi, I'm Butch, a software developer from the Philippines.
I've been a long time advocate, user and contributor to open source projects. My current interests are in applying data science, machine learning and geospatial applications for sustainability solutions. I'm also interested in building developer tools to improve software quality and productivity.
Among my current projects is the ntlights-processing-utils which is a set of utilities for searching and downloading nightlights data for geospatial processing.
Nightlights satellite imagery is a valuable resource in building machine learning models for measuring economic development and I plan to continue enhancing this library to be useful for geospatial and socio-economic researchers and analysts.
I've also forked and enhanced an open source visual studio code plugin called vscode-dbt-bigquery-power-user published in the Visual Studio and OpenVsx marketplaces.
As part of my day job, I'm part of a team that built an open source geospatial processing library called Geowrangler which aims to help AI/ML researchers build machine learning models for sustainable development.
