Hi, I'm Sebastian Ehlert, usually going by the handle @awvwgk. I'm a theoretical chemist by training, a self-taught software developer, and a package maintainer. I'm mainly developing electronic structure methods and computational chemistry programs in Fortran and Python.
I am involved in growing the open-source community around the Fortran programming language, helping out by maintaining the infrastructure, contributing to the core projects, like the standard library and package manager, as well as onboarding new contributors. I am developing TOML Fortran a library for serializing and deserializing TOML documents in Fortran and actively contribute to projects like DFTB+, xtb, dftd4 and many more.
I'm an active package maintainer for several packaging ecosystems, mainly active at conda-forge, where I maintain >70 feedstocks providing scientific software and Fortran-related libraries and programs. I like the challenge of packaging useful but difficult-to-build software to reduce the friction of making them accessible to users.
By sponsoring my work, you can help ensure that I can dedicate my time to developing open-source software and packaging difficult-to-build yet important libraries and programs for the benefit of the scientific community.
